New Furniture and lots and lots of Rain....

On Monday we FINALLY got some of our furniture delivered. We ordered it in late March, and while I'm sure my stuff came in early in April, Chans had ordered a popular sectional that was backordered. Since our furniture store (I. Keatings Furniture in Minot) only wanted to make the 90 mile drive out to the farmstead once, they talked us into waiting until all the pieces had arrived before delivering. We finally got sick of waiting and had them deliver whatever they had in to us on Monday and they will bring the rest out whenever it shows up.

Here is my upstairs living room Before shot with our "placeholder" couch on loan from my in-laws.

And here it is with the new stuff!

The sofa and loveseat are by Ashley Furniture and are the Yvette style. The rug is from Joss and Main and I got it for a steal! J&M is one of those flash sale websites where they have stuff on deep discount but only for a few days at a time. I don't think that this particular rug is on the site right now, but they have SO MANY to choose from!

Chans's sectional comes in about 20 pieces. So far he only has 4. The two end pieces are missing and should be coming in in the next few weeks.

(Sorry for crappy iPhone picture...the fancy camera had a dead battery!)

The other big story this week was all the rain we got from Monday night until early Wednesday morning. We got somewhere between 2-3" on Tuesday afternoon alone. This was taken out our bedroom window on Tuesday afternoon.

That would be the sump pump hose. It was working overtime last night to keep the basement dry. Thankfully, it has been working like a champ and we haven't had any issues!

And now for an update on George. He is unfazed by his misadventure from this weekend and is still as goofy as ever. I noticed that he was still sticking his head through the gate he got stuck in and had to improvise a little to stop such naughty behavior.

So far it has been working and we haven't had any more escapes!

Happy Hump Day everyone!

Adventures in Farming

There is never a dull moment when you live on a farm. Currently we have 7 bovine guests here on the farm. A bottle calf, five steers, and a cow to keep the steers in line.

George here was our first arrival, about three weeks ago.

He has been pretty low maintenance (besides the twice a day bottle feedings) and has been a happy barn guest. Until tonight.

Chans and I were watching a little TV and relaxing after having supper when we hear a sort of jangling noise going on outside. My first thought was that the cats had gotten into something and was starting to get up to go look in the kitchen. Then Chans yells, "The calf is out!" We ran to the front door and we see poor George, stuck in the fence from his little paddock.

Yes, that is, in fact, an old garden gate. Apparently, he was just so hungry and desperate for his nightly milk, that he some how wiggled into the space between the bars, got stuck, and then panicked. We found gouge marks in the lawn all over the back and side yards. He's ok! He suffered a small cut on a foot and the indignity of having his picture taken while stuck in a gate.
